Hello, hello!

I was more than pleasantly surprised at the response to the photo I posted yesterday on my Facebook page asking if you want a tutorial for the look that I did. I really did not expect so many nice comments and likes, their numbers literally shocked me because makeup I did originated from boredom and pissed off mood on one Saturday afternoon when I took a few brushes and eyeshadows.

This is a really dramatic look and it is impossible not to notice it, especially when you close your eyes and the eyelids show the shades of black, blue and white. Actually is quite easy to do, the only thing you need is a little more skill is at blending, and it is much easier with a soft brush, and I used the fingertips to apply eyeshadow in higher concentration on one part of the eyelid and tapping it to the left and right towards the ones I applied before. Try it when you have the opportunity :)

The first step is of course primer. I used Illamasqua Hollow pigment. I especially love this as a base because it neutalizes the color of the eyelid and has a slightly oily texture that better captures particles of eyeshadows so they become more intense.

I applied black eye shadow with a brush and made a line outside that went from the outer corner of the eye, up and in the crease.

Take a little of black eyeshadow to the same brush and blend edges to soften them. Not the bestphoto, but it shows what I did :)

Place a dark blue eyeshadow next to black. You can blend it now or later (I did it later).

Apply a light blue by the dark blue. You can also blend it now or later.

And in the inner corner of the eye put some white eyeshadow. I put up almost to 1/3 of the inner eyelid.

After I put all the eyeshadows that I wanted, I blended them with by tapping slightly over them. I lined the waterline with black eye pencil.

I blended it with a pencil brush.

I also applied a bit of blue eyeshadow on the lower lid and some black eyeliner by the lashes.

Here you can finish the look, just put a layer of mascara to the lashes.

OR you can put false lashed to make the look totally drag queen style. I like to exaggerate. Lashes look quite creepy on this photo :D

The rest of the products for the face I applied after the eye makeup. I have Catrice Toffe Fairy on cheeks, and Intimacy by Illamasqua on the lips.

I also added a bit more black above the crease in the end.

Will you try this look ? If you do, be sure to send me a photo :)

Hi there!

You have probably found yourself in a hurry while someone is waiting for you, or you just do not have much time to do your makeup, but you still want for it to be little something more than the minimum. Few days ago, I found myself in a hurry and considering that I was going out with my friends, I wanted my makeup to be noticeable and far more than a bit of blush on the cheeks, mascara and gloss on the lips. When I do the makeup, I want it to be seen.

That inspired me to do a post about literally a ten-minute makeup for which you need a few basic makeup items and a little practice applying them. So let’s get to work.

This is me without makeup. Terrible, washed out monster :)

I applied a bit of little Eveline primer to smooth pores and make the makeup last longer.

Otherwise I would not put a primer under the BB cream, but this time I did because I used Garnier BB cream for oily skin that tends to look overly matte on the skin. I applied it in dots across the face. When I have more time for makeup, I put my foundation on hand and aplly it slowly with a brush, but we are short of time in this case , so I will accelerate the application by puting it directly on the face.

I blended BB cream using duo fibre brush (ELF), which is my first choice for products with runny texture like this one. I didnt use concealer because my skin is currently in somewhat good condition, and BB cream covered uneven tone and dark circles around the eyes.

In the next step, I defined eyebrows. In the picture before you could notice that they have gathered a bit of foundation – I removed it using a cotton pad soaked by a tiny bit of micellar solution. It is already known that I love more defined, strong eyebrows, so I used a wet angled brush (Essence) and eyeshadow (Illamasqua Gaze) which I pulled out the desired form, filled it in and fixed with Catrice eyebrow gel.

I contoured my face a bit (unfortunately, my Illamasqua Spite turned out quite orange on the photos, although it is neutral). Then – the eye makeup. I applied a white concealer as a base (Illamasqua CC 105), fixed it with neutral eye shadow in skin color (Makeup Geek Beaches & Cream), and on the outer corner of the eye I used black pencil black pencil with which I then proceeded to the crease of the eye (Illamasqua Sophie).

I used small brush for blending and I softened the pencil line that created a shading effect on the eyelid and thus saved time that I would lose on applying the eyeshadow. Just make sure that you choose the softer pencils because they blend more evenly.

I lined the upper eyelash line with liquid eyeliner (Eveline Celebrities).

In the end I applied mascara (Illamasqua Masquara) and filled the lips with red lip liner pencil (Cherry Bipa 8). When I’m in a hurry, I find it easier just to use a pencil and define lips then go around with pigmented lipstick and waste time on precise application with the brush.

And of course, I did my hair, grabbed a jacket and a bag and rushed out of the house. :)

I hope you like this type of tutorials. I’d love some feedback – do you want more suggestions for a quick looks? What is your makeup when are in hurry and for which products you reach when you’re late? :)

It crossed my mind I never made a step by step tutorial on someone else. I wish I could do that on video but my camera records in too low quality and you would probably see..nothing.

However, lovely Tamara, who is my friend and food blogger whos blog you can check over at BITE MY CAKE (instant hunger guaranteed!) was so nice and alowed me to use her face as a model for another holiday tutorial I will be showing you.

I must admit it was quite hard to take step by step photos on someone else. It is just funny how good I know how to photograph myself and I feel like an idiot while catching good angles on Tamara. Thing that made the photographing even harder was the absence of natural light so I had to use flash. It was just later when I realised I could do much better photos if I took them by my lightbox (you will see the difference in last two) but it was all over and I didnt want to harass Tamara with taking off perfectly good makeup so I could do it again. I will know better for the next time.

Either way, I like how the look turned out although I am sad because the glitter doesnt show. Lid is actually covered with clear glitter that reflects in various colors. I imagined this look as a bit softer cut crease with which you can frame your eyes and which also allows additions by adding a different color lipstick, depending on what you prefer.

Tamara took off her makeup and we started with tutorial :)

I applied a thin layer of foundation around her eyes. All face makeup will be done after I am done with the eyes because of the glitter fallout.

I havent used a primer because the gel liner I used as a base holds for a long time, but if you use creamy eyeshadow or pencil, my advice is to use primer to avoid creasing. I applied white gel liner all over lid in a bit thicker layer so the glitter would stick better to it.

I outlined the crease and outer corner of the eye with a black pencil.

And blended it to soften the edges.

I applied the glitter all over lid. Too bad it doesnt show as it should. :(

Again, I went over the black with black eyeshadow and blended the edges so it would give a strong, yet soft contrast.

After that, I defined a waterline with black pencil. I find that the easier way to apply a pencil on persons waterline is to dip it into a gel liner. It is much softer and way more pigmented, which makes application way easier, especially if you are doing makeup for someone with sensitive eyes (i.e. Tamara wears contact lenses).

I blended that line with black eyeshadow to soften it. I left the inner corner of the eye in lighter shade.

For addidional definition, I applied an eyeliner and concentrated it on outer part of the lid, connecting it and blending with the black eyeshadow.

Well, these are the photos we remembered to take by the lightbox so you can actually see some of the glitter and everything is softer and much prettier. In this step mascara was added.

I wanted to put on some eyelashes but I just ran out of glue so two more generous coats of mascara were enough since Tamara has nice natural eyelashes.

She also has nice skin, without blemishes and nice bone structure so her face doesnt need much foundation so I just applied some Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum to cheeks and forehead, added a hint of a coral blush and defined her eyebrows. First lipstick is Revlon Matte 002 Pink Pout, a pale cool toned pink which gives a soft but not completely washed out lip.

Second one is dark, burgundy red Catrice After Work Wine (which is discontinued now) which makes this look much more vampy and seductive. This color is a bit hit this season and what’s a better opportunity to wear it than i.e. New Years eve?

Big thanks to Tamara for being my model and thank you for reading. I hope this tutorial helped and inspired you to grab makeup and brushes. :) Be sure to send me photos if you decide to recreate it.

How did you like this look? What do you think of this type of tutorial (when I do makeup on someone else)?

I got some requests for making a holiday/New Years eve makeup. Although I never limit myself to occasions when it comes to makeup, I know many of my readers do so I decided to make a few looks in next two weeks which will be inspired by holiday season but with my own touch to it.

First of them will be a tutorial for a look I posted some time ago on my Facebook page which got quite a lot of likes and comments. It is not completely the same as you will see in the end because I havent applied glitter in inner corner of my eye, but of course, you can apply it wherever and however you want, this is just a suggestion :)

And also please bear in mind that the original photo was taken with my DSLR while with photos in this tutorial I used my compact Nikon camera and the light is different, too.

I usually do my foundation after dealng with glitter because of the fallout which is hard to remove after it sticks to foundation and conceraler around the eyes. You can do the trick with transparent powder under the eyes but I dont like doing that, some of the glitter sticks no matter how much powder you use. I applied some concealer on the lid to even out the color and dusted a bit of powder to make a matte finish so the creamy products will stick better.

Using a flat brush, I applied gel liner in blue as a base for glitter to stick to. You can use whatever color you want and product you want/have as long as it’s sticky, i.e. in the original photo I used black eye pencil.

Line the outer corners of the blue with black pencil.

And blend it out.

Apply glitter on the blue parts. I usually do that with a finger because you can press it better with and the brush just makes the glitter fly all over.

After I applied glitter, I outlined the outer corners with black eyeshadow to make a look more “defined”. Just follow the line you made with black pencil.

And blend, blend, blend to soften the edges.

Line the waterline with black pencil.

And blend it out with pointed brush and black eyeshadow.

This is optional. Now you can apply some glitter in the innder corner to make it extra sparkly (like on the first photo) or you can keep it this way, whatever you prefer. You can also just apply a generous coat of mascara or put on some fake lashes like I did for a dramatic finish. :)

I find that the easiest way to remove glitter is just a cotton pad soaked with makeup remover you will draw in only one way (left to right or reverse). Some particles that stay behind can be easily removed with a Q-tip.

This is the final look. I added some peachy blush on cheeks and nude lipstick with peachy undertone on lips. Photo is taken with flash so you can see the glitter sparkling on lids. And excuse my hair, it likes to get into my eyes when the front part gets too long, gaaah.

IMPORTANT!

Do not use just any glitter on eyes! Make sure it is labeled as cosmetic safe. Lots of bookstores and hobby shops sell beautiful glitter but it is not safe to be used on eyes and face and can cause damage to your corneas. I am sure you dont want to spend New Years eve in ER, crying your eyes out because of the irriration.

Do you like this look? Do you have any requests for holiday tutorials? Leave them in comments :)

Sve kako, zasto, gdje mozete saznati u videu, a bonus je sto me mozete vidjeti bez sminke i likovati nad mojim jadnim licem :D

Pitanja, komentare, zelje…pisite tu u komentarima :)
